After false dowry and false rape cases, women have stooped to yet another low! While we can’t paint all women with the same brush, this is the worst form of insult to genuine victims of such horrific attacks.
In a shocking case reported from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, a woman got a fake acid attack medical certificate made to falsely implicate her husband and in-laws.
Case:
The woman is a resident of Dudhli of Janakpuri police station in Saharanpur. She got married to one Shahnawaz in April 2021. The couple used to quarrel a lot after marriage. The wife was upset with this and thus conspired to trap her husband and in-laws.
On January 2 this year, she met one lawyer named Tauseef and urged for a fake medical certificate of acid attack. The lawyer agreed to the plan and got his aide cum broker Masrur Farzand to speak with a doctor at the district hospital. The total fees to be incurred in making this fake certificate was INR 60,000.
Based on the fake medical report, an FIR was registered against the husband and his family on January 3, 2023. However, when the police examined the woman’s wounds, they found the matter to be suspicious and started their investigation.
Fake Acid Attack Planned
As pre-planned, the doctor called the woman to the hospital in the evening. Later, he took her to the bathroom, sprinkled some acid droplets on her and got her admitted.
As per process, the doctor then dialed local police and informed them about the (fake) acid attack. As soon as the information was received, an official reached the hospital to investigate the matter. However, when CCTV at the hospital was checked, it narrated a different story.
The video footage of the hospital clearly showed that the woman had come walking on her own claiming acid attack. This raised doubts and thus the officer started dig deeper. He called up the woman’s husband, who clarified that no such incident had taken place.

Police Findings & Statement
Initially the hospital was apprehensive in sharing the CCTV footage with the police. This raised the suspicion further.
When the video recording was analysed, the woman was seen going to medical officer’s room walking on her own in a perfect condition. However, she came out of the room with a bandage.
In the CCTV, the police also witnessed a middleman (broker) walking along with the woman. The entire truth got revealed when this broker was picked up. Several audio messages were retrieved from this broker’s mobile which exposed the entire racket.

According to the police, the mobile phone had a detailed recording between the lawyer and the government doctor planning this fake acid attack.
On the basis of this evidence, the broker was arrested on January 07, 2023. Based on his statement, the woman too, has been taken into custody. After indepth grilling, both have confessed to their crime.
Speaking with Dainik Bhaskar, SP City Abhimanyu Manglik said,
The rate of medical practitioner is fixed according to the work. The rate quoted to make a fake acid attack certificate was INR 50-60 thousand. The commission for the broker is around Rs 15-20 thousand.
According to the police, nearly 40 fake medical certificates have been issued by this doctor in the past three years. The SSP and AD Health have been intimated to suspend the doctor and get him arrested.
Statement by Accused Woman’s Husband
According to the husband who has been falsely implicated by his wife in this case, there were frequent fights between the couple. Speaking with media he said,
Since our marriage in 2021, my wife’s behaviour was not good. She used to torture me. She did not want to live with me.
In order to falsely implicate me and my family, she got a fake acid attack medical certificate prepared and got a false case registered at the police station. I could have been sentenced to 10-years in this case.
The innocent husband thanked the police for proper investigation and saving his life from rotting in jail.
