Single Mother, Her Paramour Brand 12-Year-Old Son With Hot Iron Pipe As He Questioned Their Relationship

Tamil Nadu police arrested a woman and her lover – a self-styled godman – on Tuesday on charges of torturing the woman’s 12-year-old son by branding him with a hot iron pipe. The child, who lived with his single mom at a village in Cuddalore, had questioned her relationship  due to which he had to suffer physical abuse by his own birth giver.

Case:

Santhi Devi, 35, who hails from S N Chavadi, was the second wife of Harikrishnan. The husband had died two-years ago after suffering from cancer. Devi was working in a textile shop to make both ends meet. This is when she met a self-styled godman M Dhugaiyal Ahmed, 40, from Chidambaram, who convinced her that her house was possessed by bad spirits, reported TOI.

Ahmed later promised to perform certain rituals that will help Devi overcome her financial crisis and soon the two got into a relationship.

Minor Son Branded With Hot Iron Pipe

The boy started noticing some change in attitude of his mother and questioned why Ahmed was frequently visiting her. This made the woman and her paramour Ahmed furious. The accused started torturing the boy by branding him with a hot iron pipe on his limbs whenever he questioned their relationship, forcing him to flee his home.

The 12-year-old boy used to spend the night sleeping in the autos parked on the road near his house and at neighbours’ houses whenever he was driven out of his home. The neighbours too did not question the woman as the godman threatened that he would curse them and their families if they raise any objection.

It is only when a resident mustered courage and alerted the Childline and Village Administrative Officer (VAO), that the matter was officially filed. The VAO lodged a complaint with the Thirupapuliyur police, who arrested the cruel mother and her lover.

Police produced them before a magistrate who remanded them in judicial custody on Tuesday. Later, the boy was rescued by police, with the help of Childline activists who admitted him to a children’s home in the district. DSP (Cuddalore) Karikal Pari Sankar said,

The boy had burn injuries on his limbs and other parts of his body.
