Marriages may be made in heaven, but if they are not meant to be forever, couples must just amicably separate and move on. In an unfortunate incident reported from Punjab, an army officer killed his wife and then ended his own life following an ongoing matrimonial discord.
A suicide note has been recovered and matter has been sent for investigation.
Case:
Lt Col Nishant Parmar (44) got married to Dimple (43) around four years ago. This was Nishant’s second marriage and he has a 16-year-old son who was not living with them. While Parmar hailed from Himachal Pradesh, Dimple was from Dehradun. At present, the couple was staying at Ferozepur.
The duo were having disputes since sometime, for which they were also undergoing regular counselling sessions. However, the fight took an ugly turn on Sunday night, where the husband initially shot his wife, and then ended his life.
Lt Col also left a purported suicide note for his commanding officer confessing to his wife’s murder.
Police Statement
Speaking with The Indian Express, SHO Naveen Kumar said,
The couple was going through a marital discord, which took an ugly turn Sunday night around 9 pm. Their only son wasn’t living with them. After strangulating his wife, the officer shot himself.
As per another report by The New Indian Express, Parmar shot his wife in her head and later strangulated her at their official accommodation in Ferozepur cantonment on Sunday night. He then went to a temple in his unit’s quarter guard, prayed, and shot himself in the head.
