Mother-Daughter Duo Arrested For Blackmailing Man In False Rape Case If He Didn’t Pay Rs 2 Lakh

A mother-daughter duo have been arrested by Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar police for demanding money by implicating a man in a false case of rape. Sector 39 police arrested Shankari Mahato and Pooja Mahato who had demanded Rupees two lakh, threatening a male victim in a rape case.

Case:

According to Noida police, a woman living in Chhanra area had lodged a report in the police station alleging that one Babu Mahto’s wife Shankari and daughter Pooja had framed false charges of rape against her brother. The woman also alleged that the two accused were demanding Rs 2 lakh ransom or threatening to send her brother to jail.

Noida police investigated the matter in detail and later arrest both the mother and daughter. The police found several strong evidences from the victim’s side which suggested that Shankari and Pooja were plotting a false case against the innocent man. 

Both accused were produced in court, from where they were sent to 14-day custody.

In a similar case reported in 2017 from Karnal, Haryana, mother-daughter were arrested for blackmailing people with false rape cases.

Police then busted a gang that used to extort money from people by threatening to implicate them in false rape cases. In the said case, police recovered an iPhone, four signed bank cheques, a Honda Activa scooter and a Maruti Alto car with Rs 2.92 lakh from the accused. Rajnandini and Neha used to lure young men into a honeytrap and threaten them with implication in false rape cases to extort money from them.

In yet another case reported from Jaipur in 2019, three women, including a mother-daughter duo, were arrested for extorting money in return of settling an alleged rape case lodged by one of the accused. Anuradha Kapoor, 43, had lodged a rape case against Rajendra Vyas and Anil Ahuja, while the accused alleged that the woman was demanding Rs 15 lakh to withdraw the false case.
