He informed the police that he owns a car, for which his wife quarrels with him every day and also beats him up. According to Sanjay, his wife wants to sell the car and give the money to her family. When Sanjay objected, his wife brutally beat him up and injured by burning him with a hot tong.

Supreme Court Grants Divorce To Husband After 17-Years; ‘Cruel’ Wife Gets Rs 1.5 Crore Alimony
Note: India does not recognise Domestic Violence against Men. The only recourse available to men in abusive marriage is divorce (civil grounds). It takes minimum 15-20 years for a man to win against a contested divorce, and in the interim, it is him who needs to pay maintenance throughout to a ‘cruel’ wife. Even if the divorce comes through, it is the victim husband who has to pay alimony to his abusive wife.
