A video involving cricketer Prithvi Shaw has been going viral on social media. There are two versions to the story, first being, a woman and her friends insisted for a selfie and when he denied the same, they damaged his car and also demanded money. However, in a twist to the case, the accused woman’s lawyer has now accused Shaw of attacking his client and subsequently, they are demanding a counter FIR on the cricketer.

Here’s What Happened
As per the detailed complaint reported by PTI, a man and a woman named Sapna Gill (identified as influencer) approached Shaw for a selfie when he was entering a hotel at Santacruz in Mumbai. Initially, the cricketer allowed them to do so. However, after they insisted on clicking more selfies with him, Shaw turned down the request. After that, the accused started arguing and misbehaving with the cricketer.
On seeing this, the hotel manager intervened and asked the duo, demanding selfies with Shaw, to vacate the premises.
After this incident, Shaw had dinner at the hotel. But while he was stepping out with his friend Ashish Yadav, they saw the same people holding a baseball bat.
After Shaw and friends sat in their car, the woman and her gang allegedly attacked the vehicle’s windshield with the baseball bat. Sensing more trouble, Shaw was shifted to another car, while Yadav and others drove his vehicle to Oshiwara.
Yadav saw three motorcycles and a white-coloured car chasing their vehicle. At around 4am, those following him attacked his car when it was taking a U-turn near a petrol pump on Link Road. One of them slammed the baseball bat on the rear windshield.
The six motorcycle-borne persons and two others in the car, including Sapna Gill, abused Yadav and those accompanying him. After that, Yadav took the car to the Oshiwara police station. The eight accused also followed them there.
Sapna Gill allegedly started arguing and threatened Yadav to pay Rs 50,000 to settle the matter, or she would lodge a false police complaint against them, the police official said.
Sapna Gill Arrested
On Thursday, Sapna Gill was arrested by Mumbai Police after a case of rioting and extortion was registered against her and seven others.
According to reports, Sapna Gill’s medical was completed after the arrest and will be produced in court on Friday.

Statement by Mumbai Police
Speaking with media, a police official stated that the incident occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday when Prithvi Shaw had gone to the hotel near the domestic airport at Santacruz for dinner with his businessman friend.
Shaw’s friend and flatmate Ashish Yadav, who runs a cafe, lodged a complaint in this connection. Yadav has been staying with Shaw for the last three years at Bandra.
Based on his complaint, the Oshiwara police registered a case against the eight accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 148 (rioting), 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and others.
Statement By Sapna Gill’s Lawyer
After the arrest of Sapna Gill, her lawyer Ali Kashif Khan has come up with a different version. Khan claims that the allegations by Shaw and his friend are false, and that it was Prithvi Shaw who actually assaulted the influencer. He quoted:
Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi’s hand. Prithvi’s friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at Oshiwara police station. The police are not allowing her to go for medical.
Khan has urged that the case against his client should be quashed and a counter FIR against Shaw be filed including under IPC section 354, which pertains to an assault of force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty. It is a non-bailable offence. The lawyer further claimed that the incident took place in Andheri East and pointed out that the FIR was filed in Oshiwara, saying that it is a clear misuse of power.

Adding further, Khan said:
Prithvi Shaw has filed a false FIR. Prithvi Shaw and his goons beat Sapna Gill and then tried to portray that the goons were brought by her. The claims are false because Sapna can hardly make her own ends meet, how can she get goons?
We urge that a case should be registered against Prithvi Shaw under IPC sections 354, 509, and 323 and he should be arrested. Shaw’s bogus FIR should be quashed. The incident happened in Andheri East and Sapna was detained by the Oshiwara police which is a complete misuse of power.
