According to POCSO Act, anyone who has sexual relationship with a minor, can be subjected to the law under charges of rape. Sadly, even if the relationship is consensual, and the family of the girl/boy happens to file a complaint, the accused man/woman will be charged accordingly.
In one such case reported from Surat, a 23-year-old man died by suicide on Wednesday. He was accused of being involved in the kidnapping and rape of a minor girl.

Police Statement
Speaking with The Indian Express, RR Desai of Sachin police station said,
The deceased who is a resident of Adajan and a native of Aurangabad in Maharashtra, left behind a note written in Marathi pointing to a love angle as the reason.
Reason for Arrest
The accused had eloped with the girl last year, with the intention of marrying her, after her parents did not accept the relationship. The girl’s parents subsequently lodged a missing complaint, mentioning him as a suspect.
Police arrested the accused from Aurangabad and handed over the girl to her parents, following which a complaint of rape and kidnap was registered by her father.
Suicide
On Wednesday around 2.30 am, the accused hanged himself in the barrack using a bedsheet. After sometime another inmate woke up and found him hanging.
Police sent the body to New Civil Hospital for postmortem before handing it over to his relatives. Desai added,
We are getting the details of the case against him. On checking the CCTV footage from the barrack, we found that he died by suicide.
