In a tragic incident reported from Gurugram, Haryana, a young man died by suicide within five days of his marriage.
Currently, the matter is under investigation.
CASE:
Siddharth, a resident of Puri Diplomatic Enclave, Sector 110, Gurugram got married on April 5, 2024. Post the marriage ceremonies, the couple headed for their honeymoon to Sri Lanka.
As per preliminary investigation, Siddharth had a heated argument with his wife on his honeymoon, after he came across some of her objectionable photographs in her mobile. The fight turned ugly and the duo cut short the trip and returned to India within two days.
After this, the wife left her matrimonial home and returned to her parents along with her clothes, jewelry and other belongings.
This left Siddharth disturbed and he hung himself to death at his home on Thursday.
Police Statement
Speaking with media, the police confirmed suicide by hanging. As soon as the information was received, the family rushed Siddharth’s body to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The body was sent for post mortem.

As per law, if a married woman dies under mysterious circumstances within seven years of marriage, her husband and in-laws are presumed guilty of harassing her for dowry, purely on word of her parents and family. However, in this and many such cases, where a man choses to end life within few days of marriage, he will be either declared weak and not man enough.
Section 304B: Dowry Death
(1) Where the death of a woman is caused by any burns or bodily injury or occurs otherwise than under normal circumstances within seven years of her marriage and it is shown that soon before her death she was subjected to cruelty or harassment by her husband or any relative of her husband for, or in connection with, any demand for dowry, such death shall be called “dowry death”, and such husband or relative shall be deemed to have caused her death.
Explanation.For the purposes of this sub-section, “dowry” shall have the same meaning as in section 2 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 (28 of 1961).
(2) Whoever commits dowry death shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than seven years but which may extend to imprisonment for life.]
