Matrimonial laws in India are completely in favour of married women. It is also almost impossible to trace complete background of a woman during marriage. Taking advantage of these loopholes in our dynamic country, a woman from Tamil Nadu got married five times in 12-years, left each one of them after stealing cash and gold jewelry – which she forced them to gift her.

- Husband 1 (2011): Vijay, had a child with him
- Husband 2 (2013): She abandoned her child and Vijay and fled with 10 sovereigns of gold. She then married Senthil Kumar. They were together the longest (almost 7-years)
- Husband 3: (2020): Abinaya then came to Chennai, changed her name to Kayalveli and married an auto driver named Panneerselvam from Kelambakkam
- Husband 4: (2020): Within 6-months, she left Paneerselvam, changed her name again to Abinaya and married another man (4th husband)
- Husband 5: (2022): Later, she started work in a bakery in Tambaram, where she met Natrajan (who was her co-worker). In August this year, she married Natrajan. Abinaya informed him that she was an orphan and so his parents conducted the wedding at a temple in Tambaram and set them up in a separate house
Once again, after marrying Natrajan, Abinaya fled with 17 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 20,000 in cash just before Diwali this year. She left home when Natrajan had gone to the tailor shop to pick up her new clothes. However, Abinaya was not as lucky this time and Natrajan decided to lodge a police complaint. Hunt was launched for Abinaya, and finally, she was arrested by local police on December 02, 2022.
Not just Abinaya, but police has also arrested her second husband, Sethil Kumar, 45, who is suspected to be hand in glove with her in the con game.

Abinaya and Senthil Kumar, who was arrested from OMR, have been remanded in judicial custody. Police seized four sovereigns of gold jewellery from them.
Planned to Target More Men
Police said that Abinaya had plans to target few more men over social media. She would blackmail them for money using messages they had sent her. Police said Senthil Kumar was very much a part of this scam and also aided Abinaya to trap men.
VFMI Take:
- Men should be careful before getting married randomly to any woman
- It may not be practically possible each time, but try to do basic reference check with people in her vicinity where she lives, colleagues where she has worked or some other other source
- While we live in an era where several successful marriages have taken place through matrimonial portals, one still needs to be cautious before going ahead with a stranger
- It is best to avoid interaction with unknown women with whom you acquaint with on social media
- Most likely, women lay traps through online channels and then end up blackmailing the men
- Even if you get into such a situation, speak to your family, walk into the police station, lodge a complaint – do not pay any money, else its an endless chapter
