Woman Accuses Constable Of Rape For Not Wearing Mask; Investigating Officer Alleges Affair Gone Sour

A 33-year-old woman in Gujarat accused a police constable from Surat, for allegedly raping her last year, after he caught her without a mask. The accused is posted at the Umarpada police station of Surat. The woman alleged that she was abducted from Palsana after the cop threatened to take action against her.

Case:

The complainant woman accused the cop of raping her multiple times over the next few months after being caught for not wearing a mask, else threatened her with action. On other hand, the constable’s wife accused the complainant of casteism.

According to initial investigations, Kapadiya was earlier posted at the Palsana police station and was later transferred to the Umarpada police station in January when a video of him fighting with the survivor had gone viral.

Allegations by Complainant Woman 

The complainant woman alleged that during the 2020 lockdown, she was on her way to buy milk in Palsana when the accused allegedly abducted her. The accused threatened the woman with police action as she was not wearing a mask. Instead of taking the woman to the police station, the accused took her to Navsari Road where he allegedly stripped and thrashed her.

The accused took inappropriate photographs of the woman and allegedly raped her. He later used the photographs to blackmail the woman and continued raping her.

Allegations by Constable’s Wife

The accused cop Naresh Kapadiya’s wife alleged that the survivor and her husband came to their residence and hurled casteist slurs at him. After Kapadiya’s wife lodged a complaint, the survivor and her husband were booked under The Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, reported TOI.
