Two teenagers of Takhana village died after consuming a poisonous substance on Sunday, allegedly for being humiliated after a girl filed a complaint against them for teasing at Taraori police station in Karnal, Haryana.
Case:
The deceased have been identified as Vishal (16) and Sahil (17), who were close friends. The girl’s family had filed a complaint of teasing against the two boys. Sahil was a student of Class X, while Vishal worked at a car repair shop as reported by The Tribune India.
Allegations by Girl & Action:
The girl alleged that she, along with her friend, had gone to a bank on October 1, where the two boys eve-teased her. On her complaint, the police had taken the boys to the police station and released them after a warning. After the girl lodged a complaint, a panchayat was conducted, where they were forced to seek pardon.
The boys were allegedly forced to seek pardon by touching the feet of the girl in the presence of the panchayat.
Boys’ Family Statement
The boys’ families claimed that they were mentally disturbed since a village girl accused them of sexually harassing her at a bank on October 1. Thereon, the girl and her brother continued to harass their sons, due to which they ended their lives on Sunday, they alleged.
Abetment to Suicide
The Taraori police registered a case against the girl and her brother for abetment to suicide. Parmod Gautam, in-charge of the Taraori police station told Hindustan Times,
Following a counter complaint by the father of one of the deceased, the girl and her brother have been booked under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (acts done in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
The bodies were handed over to the families after autopsy at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College.
