Domestic Violence is not just In-laws beating up Daughter-in-Law. Sadly, that’s the first image that crops up in our mind when we hear this word. However, there is another side to such ghastly acts and without considering or giving benefit to any gender, the same must be strongly condemned.
In a recent case reported from Panipat in Haryana, a daughter-in-law thrashed and assaulted her old father-in-law and mother-in-law over an alleged property dispute. What is even more shocking that the woman kept assaulting her in-laws in presence of a police officer.
Case:
Rekha, a resident of Samalkha, Delhi got married got married in June 2015.
According to Babli (mother-in-law of Rekha), she has three children. On the night of September 4, Rekha is seen on camera, thrashing both her in-laws in presence of a police personnel. The matter was reported to the police, post which an investigation has been initiated.

Background:
According to Babli, within few days of her son’s marriage, Rekha started quarrelling in the house over trivial issues. The daughter-in-law also allegedly became physically violent with her husband and father-in-law. After a few days passed, Rekha also allegedly threatened to implicate her husband and in-laws in false cases.
The daughter-in-law demanded that the house be transferred to her name, failing which she would continue to harass her in-laws. Babli accused Rekha’s maternal uncle of aiding her in this harassment.
Since such violent atmosphere could not be tolerated further, Babli and her husband got their son and daughter-in-law evicted from their house. However, even after eviction, Rekha allegedly continued her harassment and kept demanding money constantly. The daughter-in-law is also accused of giving murder threats to her in-laws if they did not part with their money.

Assault On In-Laws
On the night of September 4, at around 8 pm, Rekha entered the house forcibly and assaulted her mother-in-law. She even tried to kill the elderly woman by strangulating her, with her duppatta, and attacking her with a knife.
The mother-in-law somehow rescued herself from the daughter-in-law and locked herself inside the room. In the video, it can be further seen, that Rekha also drags her elderly father-in-law by the neck and assaults him too.
When Babli raised an alarm, Rekha finally fled before giving threats of murdering her in-laws. In the video, we can also see Rekha’s small daughter constantly crying and pulling her mother.
