In a recent case reported from Palghar district in Maharashtra, a 17-year-old girl eloped with her boyfriend faking her own kidnapping story.
Later, the police traced the duo in Kolkata.
Case:
The minor girl lives in Virar area in Palghar. She used to work in the housekeeping section of a local company. On June 16, she left for work, however, did not return, reported PTI.
Her family started searching for the young girl. Then suddenly, the girl’s brother received a whatsapp voice message that she was ‘kidnapped’. Accordingly, a police complaint was lodged.
Police Statement
Speaking with PTI, Virar police station’s senior inspector Kalyan Karpe said.
After receiving a complaint from her family, the police registered a case under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A police probe team worked on several leads and came to know the girl had taken a flight to Kolkata in West Bengal with her boyfriend.
A police team has gone to Kolkata to trace the duo.
