Genuineness of dowry harassment cases in India have diminished over the years, because maximum cases are filed to settle score with husbands and in-laws. We are afraid, with the rising false rape cases in the country, justice for real victims may become even difficult, since incidents like below, will sooner or later make society question the legitimacy of a heinous crime such as rape.
In a recent case reported from Delhi, a YouTuber couple was booked for allegedly extorting money from a businessman by honey trapping and threatening to implicate him in a false rape case.

Background:
Few months ago, a woman named Namra Qadir, a resident of Shalimar Bagh in Delhi, had contacted the complainant to discuss work at a hotel on Sohna road in Gurugram. Another person named Virat alias Manish Beniwal had also joined along with Qadir.
The complainant is a resident of Badshahpur in Gurugram district and runs an advertisement agency.

Later, Qadir started threatening him saying that she would file a rape case against him and extorted more than Rs 80 lakh from the businessman.

VFMI Take:
- Men need to be extremely alert before getting into any kind of relationship
- We are not making moral judgements, but laws in India favour women heavily and thus, men need to be extra cautious before getting lured by the opposite sex
- Always maintain history of chat records with your partner
- If you and your partner agree to a causal fling, no marriage commitments, please save all such written interactions
- Do not fall for any kind of blackmail, and the minute the woman demands money by threatening false rape case, report the matter to police with evidence at once
- You may not have it easy with the law, but if you have taken the risk of getting involved with an unknown woman, you will have to fight it out legally at court
- Evidences may not save you from a rape charge, but it will surely help you in getting bail and hopefully an acquittal
