In a tragic incident reported from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, body of a young man was recovered after he jumped into the Narmada River from a 40-feet high bridge in Khargone.
Police have also recovered a suicide note from his possession, along with his last video he left before his death. The victim accused his wife and father-in-law for harassing him to pay Rs 1 crore as alimony.
Case:
Ajay Dwivedi, son of Pramod Tiwari, was a resident of Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. On November 25, he was traveling from Indore to Omkareshwar on a scooter with his partner on Thursday afternoon. During the journey, he stopped in the middle and jumped off the Narmada bridge. His search in the river basin continued for three days and later his body was found floating Narmada near Muralla village.
Police have recovered a suicide note in the trunk of Ajay’s bike. The victim has accused his wife Prarthana Tiwari, and in-laws Guruprasad Tiwari, Prince Tiwari, Rama Tiwari for being responsible for his death. Ajay wrote that his wife and in-laws had been filing cases against him since 3-years and demanding Rs 1 crore as alimony. Since he could not bear this harassment any longer, he was ending his life.
Video Note By Victim
Ajay Dwivedi left his last video accusing his wife Prarthana Tiwari responsible for his death. In the video, Ajay said,
My family has been on trial for three years now. My uncle, who hardly has any contact with my family, has also been charged. The cases have been pending for three years. They are asking for Rs 1 crore to settle the cases against us. So now, I have chosen the path to death. I plead to the court that such people should be punished.
Statement By Ajay’s Father
Police handed over the body to the family members after postmortem. Ajay’s father Pramod Dwivedi is a deputy ranger in Sirmaur, Rewa. He alleged that his son’s in-laws had filed a case of dowry harassment against Ajay and them. He also accused his son’s in-laws for torturing them with a demand of Rs 1 crore as settlement. According to Pramod, this was the reason his son ended his life.
Statement By Police
Barwah police station in-charge Jagdish Goyal said that on November 25, they received information about a young man jumping off the Narmada bridge. After searching the body for three days, they recovered the same on Saturday.
In the initial investigation, it has been found that the youth used to work in the stock market and lived in Indore. He was having dispute with his wife and cases were also pending in court. A suicide note has been found and the police is verifying the same. Matter is under investigation.
