In yet another case of suicide reported from Maharashtra, an elderly man ended his life after being allegedly fed up with his daughter-in-law’s constant harassment. The father-in-law died by suicide by hanging himself in the district of Yavatmal.
Case:
Sahebrao Davane, 65, resident of Panchsheel Nagar, Lohara hanged himself to death at Swaraj Tractor Workshop in MIDC area of Yavatmal. He also left a suicide note naming his daughter-in-law Sandhya for allegedly harassing him so much that he decided to end his life.
Sahebrao was working as a guard at the tractor workshop and living with his son Soon. He had taken a loan from four self-help groups to organise marriage of his son Suraj to Sandhya, who hailed from Nanded.
When Sandhya came to her husband’s home after marriage, she started abusing and speaking badly with her father-in-law. The woman was also allegedly pressuring her husband not to repay the marriage loan.
Daughter-in-law Threatened Man With Jail
Sandhya would often give threats of sending the man to jail which had caused tremendous mental agony to the victim. Sahebrao was left with no choice but to end his life. After recovering the suicide note, his son Suraj lodged a complaint at Avadhutwadi police station. Following the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused wife Sandhya.
