Depression in Men is for real. But we, as a society, are too busy only looking at one gender – the women. We have been so brainwashed by mainstream media, that we only choose to believe women/wives as victims. Suicides by husbands in India has been on the rise, however, thanks to social media, the same are now getting reported and debated as well.
Yet another case of a young doctor committing suicide in Hyderabad has come to the fore. He was allegedly undergoing marital problems.
Case:
A 32-year-old doctor working in a hospital in Hyderabad was found dead at this residence on Friday. Police suspect that the doctor, Dasarapu Subash, who lived with his parents in Quthbullapu of Medchal committed suicide.
According to police, Subash did not respond at around 6am, when his mother tried to wake him up. Later, she informed his father and they immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital, where a doctor examined him and declared him dead. The young man’s father D Agaiah approached Petbasheerabad police after his son was no more.

Subash was working as a cardiologist in Yashoda hospital. The family has been staying at Gayatri Nagar in Suchitra for the past five years. According to Agaiah’s complaint, Subash had a love marriage with one Dr Lasya in 2017 by way of Arya Samaaj rites. The father told police that the girl later went to her parent’s home to persuade them to accept their relationship and had promised to return soon, however, she did not. The doctor’s parents allege that this is the main reason that led their son to end his life. Inspector M Mahesh informed the media,
We believe he was in depression and was undergoing some issues with his wife. We don’t have a suicide note. He is suspected to have consumed some poison. We are investigating the matter.

Police officials said that they could ascertain the cause of death only after the post mortem report comes. Meanwhile Subhash’s relatives remained tight lipped when questioned by the police raising further doubts about his death.
Unfortunately, this becomes the third alleged suicide case of a doctor reported from Hyderabad in the past two months. Some doctors have voiced their opinion on these recent incidents. According to them, most medical practitioners work for nearly 18-hours a day and if they have family problems back home, situation can get more difficult and tricky.

Earlier, a doctor and owner of a multi-specialty hospital at LB Nagar in Hyderabad allegedly committed suicide at his office in the hospital on February 4, reportedly owing to financial issues. On March 9, a doctor allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed gun in his house in Jawaharnagar, reportedly owing to financial issues. Read second story below.
