On Friday, a 22-year-old woman lodged a police complaint against her 80-year-old relative accusing him of raping her at his house located at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. Currently, the police have not made any arrests in connection with the case.
According to the police, the woman who belongs to Falaknuma, had recently got separated from her husband and her elderly relative had offered to help her with arrangements for her stay. It is then that the woman, along with a male friend, visited the accused man’s house in the first week of April.
According to Banjara Hills inspector Kalinga Rao, after arriving at the elderly man’s residence, the woman and her male friend were offered alcohol by him. Later, the woman alleged that the elderly man allegedly assaulted her sexually when she was under the influence of the alcoholic drink.
However, there was a twist in the tale. According to the inspector, soon after the alleged incident, the senior citizen approached the police and filed a complaint against the said woman and her male friend accusing them of stealing his expensive watch. The verification of details of the alleged incident is underway.

It is also important to note that while the alleged sexual assault incident took place on April 3, the woman had approached the police only on Friday (May 08) and a case was lodged against the octogenarian after more than a month.

- Such cases are extremely next to impossible to be proven and all that sustains is the word of the woman
- The delay in reporting the case will raise many questions and also the case of theft filed by the elderly man is a matter of investigation related to sexual assault
In another story reported from Maharashtra, amid the ongoing ‘Bois Locker Room’ controversy, the alumni and current students (both male and female) of school in Navi Mumbai have levelled allegations of sexual harassment and assault against a male teacher on the premises of the school. In private chats on Instagram, the students accused the teacher of sexually harassing several children in the last five years.

He added that he was wrong and apologized to the girl. He also said that he failed to understand that why are these complaints being brought up now.
