Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah (TMKOC) is arguably one of the most loved family show on Indian television for the past 15-years. Unfortunately, in the past few months, most of the cast has been replaced with new faces and the show has been embroiled in some or the other controversy.
In a recent turn of events, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal who played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi has quit the show. However, the actress has also accused TMKOC producer Asit Modi of sexual harassment. While Modi has denied the allegations, he is now planning to pursue legal action against Jennifer.
Background:
Speaking with TOI earlier, Jennifer has confirmed her exit from the show. She quoted:
Yes, I’ve left the show. It is right that I shot my last episode of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on March 6 this year.
Mistry has not just accused Modi, but also project head Sohil Ramani and Executive Producer Jatin Bajaj. She quoted:
I had to leave the sets as I was subjected to humiliation and insult at the hands of Mr Sohil Ramani and the other executive producer Jatin Bajaj.
After over two months of shooting for her last show, Mistry has alleged that the makers of the show sexually assaulted her.

Other Side:
In an exclusive interview with AajTak, Asit Modi has denied all the allegations against him. The producer has decided to take a legal action against Jennifer.
Speaking with AajTak, Asit Modi said that Mistry was trying to defame him and the show, thereby, making baseless and false allegations against him and makers of the show.
Adding further, Ramani and Bajaj mentioned that Jennifer used to misbehave with everyone on the sets of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. They mentioned that they had to terminate the actress’ contract because her behaviour was bad on the set. The makers of the show confirmed that they have already registered a complaint.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Ramani further shared:
We have removed her from the show three months ago and now she is desperate. She is unable to find work, so she is just doing it to blackmail us. It is cheap for publicity.
She has been working with us for 15-years, shooting mein bohot saare utar chadhav hote hai. We have ignored her characteristics such as creating rifts among others, coming two hours late for shoot, creating misunderstandings. We have a lot of evidence against her.

Never Complained To Women Committee…
Ramani has also questioned why Mistry never complained to the committee of women which is present on the set. He categorically added,
All of us have never even entered a female artist’s makeup room. She is playing the woman card.
Yes, We have not cleared dues…
Ramani further admits that the production house has not cleared Mistry’s dues, since they were looking for an answer from her. He concluded,
We had shared an email with her asking her for the reasons why she did what she did. We have suffered a lot of loss because of her.
VFMI Take:
- We refrain from taking either sides as it is her word Vs theirs
- However, VFMI always questions naming and shaming of men publicly without taking a proper legal route
- If a woman is facing sexual harassment at workplace, there are numerous laws and guidelines for her to take recourse
- Should naming and accusing anyone verbally be encouraged in society?
