World is celebrating Women’s Day Week which happens to fall on March 8 every year. While several brands and women empowerment and engagement groups run multi million campaigns, often they forget to thank the other gender who could have also possibly had some influence and contribution in their upbringing.
We came across a touching Facebook post of Farida Dariwala, a ‘daughter’ and a ‘mother’ who has expressed beautifully about loving and respecting #MenToo. Here are her thoughts…
A small daily dose of love! My dear Men, I truly appreciate you.
A beautiful moment from the past popped on my screen here at Ahmedabad airport. Tears floating with a feeling of so much love for motherhood.
Those year’s I travelled to work early mornings and came back home pretty late in the night. My daughter used to be with my aunt (my dad’s sister) since she was three months old till around 7 years, as that was the only place that found us. The moment Sasha used to hear my voice, her legs would start kicking and when I would carry her, she would whack her legs in so much excitement and pull my hair as well. My body felt so much contentment and relief in that embrace, the infant knew her safe zone and the bosom that she suckled on.
Handbag still hanging on my shoulder coz from there we then also had to go home. Today at the airport waiting to board I saw a similar sight, this time it was a DAD with his girl. The infant did exactly that and I cried, my body remembered and in that moment a father and the mother in me shared a similar feeling. Our eyes met, respect exchanged.
Today, how about giving our men an extra hug or a kiss, a kind word and dollops of appreciation. Men silently ask for attention, I really don’t think they need their things to be taken care of, like laundry and food etc. What they really need is appreciation and attention, just like we do. Our men go through their lives with so much pain, most of the times not shared for the fear of being seen as weak. Today when I saw the father pick his baby, feelings of so much gratitude and vulnerability poured in.
Thank you dear men, I truly do.
Love!

The post comes as a refresher amidst so many social media users constantly bashing Men. Many women too have commented on Farida’s post which were equally heart wrenching.
Popular TV actor Rajeshwari Sachdev wrote,
True.?
Edwina Sekhri added,
I’ve been married for almost 47 years and my husband was the one who picked the kids up from the babysitter and/or Enrichment Center as I had a long commute to and from work. He was the one who did all the grocery shopping and made sure our kids were well taken care of after putting in a long day’s work as well. I do salute all men who share in the upbringing of children and it is wonderful for the kids to see their father as a positive role model and go through life without putting labels on “woman’s” job or “man’s” job. Good fathers breed Good Children. Men….we do appreciate you!

Thank you ladies for maintaining a balance amidst the war of genders. We will have both good and bad men and women in our society. However, bashing Men should not become the basis of women empowerment and feminism. More power to each one of you!
