A male and a female fresh police recruits in their twenties were deployed at Ramjanmabhoomi during the awaited Supreme Court verdict. However, the duo got into a relationship and when the man backed out from marriage, the woman along with her sisters murdered him brutally.
Case:
The deceased Yogesh Chauhan (25) and the accused Mandakini Chauhan, both from the 2019 batch of UP police were sent to Ayodhya as their first posting. As reported by TOI, sources in Ayodhya police said that the accused woman constable was fascinated with Yogesh.
The duo got into a romantic relationship, however, things changed when the woman started chasing him for marriage. The deceased only wanted to settle for a casual relationship, however, Mandakini was desperate to marry him.
On October 7, the couple went on leave on pretext of meeting with elders, after informing their superior at Ramjanmabhoomi police station. The police said that the accused constable wanted Yogesh to meet with her sisters, one of whom — 28-year-old Meena — is also a head constable at Agra.
However, a day later after they left, Yogesh was found dead. The male cop’s body was found with his head smashed in the fields of Labedi area in Etawah district. The case was solved after 12-days of finding the constable’s body. DIG, Ayodhya, Deepak Kumar told TOI,
After Yogesh’s body was recovered, an FIR was lodged at Labedi police station of Etawah. During investigations, police stumbled upon concentre clued which led them to the doorstep of constable Mandakini and her elder sister Mina and sister Rama. The trio was arrested along with two accomplices by Etawah police.
A police officer spoke in detail about the young couple’s relationship and said,
The relationship soured after Yogesh refused to marry Mandakini and she avenged this with murder. She then took help of her siblings to kill the constable. The three sisters throttled Yogesh and smashed his head with a heavy object and dumped his body in the field.
While Mandakini and Meena are both in the UP Police team, youngest sibling who was accomplice in the crime is 20-year-old Rama, a student. All three have been arrested on Tuesday.
