In a never heard before case, a 25-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad police, alleging that she was sexually assaulted by 143 people since 2010. The woman, who is a native of Nalgonda district residing in Hyderabad, lodged the complaint at the Punjagutta police station last week. However, the woman withdrew her allegation on Sunday and said the complaint was false.
Complaint
The alleged victim named people with a political background, student leaders, people from films, media and other walks of life as the accused. She also accused a few women. In addition to 139 people named in the complaint, she alleged that four others whom she does not remember also raped her.
Allegations
The woman, residing in the Somajiguda area in Hyderabad, stated in her complaint that three months after her marriage in 2009 her husband, in-laws and other relatives started harassing and assaulting her.
She claimed that they sexually harassed and physically assaulted her for nine months. She got divorced in December 2010 and after that she went to her mother’s house and joined a college for further studies.

Complainant Backtracks
Now in a twist of events, the complainant in a press meet on Monday said that she was compelled to file this FIR under duress and only part of her complaint was true. The woman has now accused a businessman named Srikar Reddy of threatening and physically torturing her to file frivolous complaint against so many persons. As reported by TOI, the woman said:
I told him that only those who exploited and misbehaved with me should be named in the complaint. But he threatened me and tortured me to implicate innocent people. He even sent people to my native place and threatened my family members.
The woman tendered apologies to the actor and TV anchor, who were named by her in the case, for making false allegations against them. Speaking to the media along with leaders of her community, the woman said she was harassed by Reddy, aka Dollar Boy, and that he had assaulted her sexually on the pretext of offering her a job.
She also accused Reddy, who ran an NGO, of forcing her to lodge false complaints naming celebrities so as to garner media and police attention.
I tendered my apologies to the TV anchor and film actor, who were named by me in connection with the case. When I had approached Srikar Reddy seeking a job, he lured me and sexually assaulted me.
Later, he duped me. He also threatened me not to disclose the matter to my family or anybody else. I was afraid, and therefore, I could not tell anyone that my complaint with the police was false.
Post the press conference, CCS ACP Sridevi, who is investigating the case said,
We will record the statement of the complainant and based on that we will proceed with further investigation.
While the police is on a look out for the accused businessman, it is a matter of time if Hyderabad police will also book the woman for her false complaint.
