Who says men are powerful and rule the world with patriarchy? We, as a society, often fail to acknowledge how men can be vulnerable and exploited when it comes to family matters and disputes.
An incident gets reported from Punjab, where a man swallowed poison, just twenty days after his child was born. However, his life was saved since he was rushed to the hospital without any delay.
Case:
A man from Gurdaspur and his wife were blessed with a baby only twenty days ago. However, the couple was embroiled in matrimonial disputes and when the husband went to visit his own child, he was compelled to end his life by swallowing poison.
29-year-old Lakhwinder Kumar got married last year. According to Soman Devi, mother of the victim, there were fights between the newly married couple within few days of marriage, and the daughter-in-law left the matrimonial home soon. The woman has been living at her maternal house since past four months.
Kumar called her several times and also tried to get her back home, however, whenever he used to make efforts, his in-laws used to allegedly threaten and abuse him.

Few days ago, the woman gave birth to their child and the father went to visit his baby on December 10. However, once again the woman’s family tried to insult and abuse him. Thereafter, he was not able to tolerate the humiliation, and hence, decided to end his life by consuming poison at around 4pm on the same day.
Fortunately, Lakhwinder was rushed to the civil hospital in Gurdaspur where doctors saved his life.
Kumar in his statement to the police said that he has three brothers and his wife was pressurizing him to live separately from his brothers. He did not want to separate from his family and this was the main reason for disputes in the marital life. The husband has requested the police to take action in this matter.
