Kagdapith police station in Ahmedabad received a police complaint from a 56-year-old woman named Gauri Maru, a resident of Geeta Mandir, claiming that her son, Bharat Maru had died of suicide. The reason behind him ending his life was his wife’s affair with a man named Kalu Makwana.
Bharat handed over a pen drive and two mobile phones to his mother and told her to pass them on to his elder brother, Deepak on the night of September 7. To his mother’s shock, on September 8, he was found hanging from a ceiling fan of the front room of the house.
As informed by Deepak, the pen drive which the deceased gave to his mother had a conversation between Bharat’s wife Daksha and her paramour Kalu. The police said,
Based on the conversation, we have lodged a complaint Section 306 of the IPC for abetment of suicide against Bharat’s wife Daksha and Kalu Makwana, a resident of Geeta Mandir.
Inspector M A Singh of Kagdapith police station also said that Kalu has been detained and a team has been sent to Bhavnagar to arrest Daksha. Singh confirmed that they had taken possession of the pen drive and two mobile phones left by Bharat.
The FIR file suggests that Bharat went to sleep after giving the mobile phones and pen drive to his mother. On September 8, at 6 am, when the woman went to her son’s room, she saw him hanging from the ceiling fan by a duppatta. He was taken to LG Hospital but was declared brought dead.
After carrying our his brother’s last rites, Deepak went through the pen drive and found the conversation between Daksha and Kalu. A police official said that:
It was apparent from the conversation that they were having an affair.
