A local court in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, has imposed a fine on a woman for filing false dowry harassment case against her sister-in-law (husband’s brother’s wife).
Civil Judge Senior Division Manish Kumar Pareek ordered the complainant to pay up cost after hearing both sides.
Case:
Neha Sharma, resident of New Mohan Nagar, Gwalior, had lodged a cruelty and dowry harassment FIR in Morena on August 13, 2014, accusing her 30-year-old sister-in-law Sapna Sharma of assaulting her during pregnancy.
After the FIR, Sapna approached court to get anticipatory bail and subsequently, filed a case in the District Court against the respondent Neha Sharma for filing false complaint against her.
Background:
Neha got married to Sapna’s brother-in-law in February 2010. Whereas Sapna got married to Gajanan Sharma in December 2013. Neha was pregnant in March 2012, nine months before she gave birth to a son in December 2012. Until this time, Sapna was not married and not even part of her in-laws’ home.
The court observed that when Sapna was not even living in her matrimonial home till December 2013, how could she possibly harass her sister-in-law Neha or demand a Swift car? The court remarked that Neha had falsely implicated Sapna to get undue advantage in the alleged dowry harassment case.
After hearing the matter from both sides, Judge Pareek imposed a fine of Rs 1.30 lakh on the respondent Neha Sharma.
