Men can keep dying, Men be damned….Women Rights Activists will keep saying “one off cases…” This also seems to be the stand taken by successive Indian governments since the introduction of Section 498-A IPC.
In yet another tragic incident of #HusbandSuicide, a businessman from Rourkela in Odisha allegedly ended his life by jumping off a hotel building in Jamshedpur on Thursday.
Case:
Rahul Agarwal married Barsha in 2012. The couple has a minor son and daughter (twins).
Rahul was reportedly under severe mental pressure for several years, after his wife filed a “false” dowry case under Section 498-A of the Indian Penal Code against him and his family.
The husband, now deceased, had gone to Jamshedpur to meet his son and daughter, and was staying at a hotel under Sonari police limits. Rahul jumped off this hotel building as confirmed by the Jamshedpur police.
However, before dying, the young man left his last video making serious allegations of harassment and torture by in-laws, including alienating him from his children.
About the Video:
In the said video which went viral over social media last week, Rahul alleged that his elderly parents were suffering as they had to constantly run around courts, due to false cases by his in-laws.
He also added that the Jamshedpur police did not listen to their (husband’s) side and acted merely on the allegations made by his in-laws.
As a father, Rahul was also not allowed to meet his kids which had left him completely heart broken.
FIR Lodged
Deceased’s brother, Ankit Agarwal, has filed an FIR stating that his brother died an unnatural death as he jumped from the rooftop of a private hotel in Jamshedpur. Ankit has accused Rahul’s in-laws of causing him mental torture due to false police complaint lodged by them.
Until yesterday, no arrests have been made in this case.
