A tragic incident has been reported from Gujarat where a man hanged himself along with both his children. The bodies were first seen by the neighbours and thereafter the police was called in.
The cops cited marital dispute as the main reason for the father killing himself and his own kids. The mother (man’s wife) had left her home and returned to her parent’s place after a fight with her husband. The man was incidentally also facing some financial issues and their condition was not stable.
The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Nagajibhai Chauhan, died by suicide at his home in Bhavnagar. He was a labourer by profession. The man also hanged his 3-year-old daughter Pratigya and 5-year-old son Manav before hanging himself. When he did not open the door of his house by noon, the neighbours went inside and found all three of them hanging. The dead bodies were sent by the cops for postmortem.
Background
The couple would fight a lot and in the past few months, the quarrels had increased tremendously due to finances during lockdown. This was the main reason why the woman left her husband and children.
A neighbour told cops that Nagaji loved his wife dearly. The woman was also working and supporting him to maintain the house, however, lockdown ruined everything. During this testing period, they were struggling financially as all the businesses had been closed down for the last several months.
The wife thus left her home, leaving behind her children and husband, despite Nagaji persuading her several times not to leave. Shattered by his wife’s step, the man decided to end all other lives in the family.
This case is extremely painful and in no way we can justify the man either ending his own or his children’s life. Coronavirus pandemic has certainly turned many lives upside down and every family needs to bond more and stay stronger during these times.
