Saint Ends Life Accusing Couple & Women’s Commission For Blackmailing Him In False Rape Case

Premdas, a 50-year-old saint at a temple in Rajasthan, died of suicide by hanging himself from a peepal tree in the ashram of Semwar. However, before ending his life, the saint from the Bhima subdivision of Rajasmand district left a video claiming how he was trapped in a false rape case. He has also accused a couple and members from the Women’s Commission who were blackmailing him for money.

On May 20, a complaint of rape, after intoxicating a woman, was registered at the Dewar Police Station. Police officer Laxman Singh Chundawat said,

Premdas died of suicide by hanging himself from a peepal tree. He was booked for rape on May 21 and the police was in search of him. 

At present, the body of the saint has been kept in the mortuary of Devgarh Hospital. We have informed his family who are based out of Gwalior.

Here’s What Happened

A couple from Guniya district had visited the ashram of Saint Premadasa on April 20 since the woman faced a problem in her stomach. A month later, the husband asked his wife to visit the saint again which is when she informed him that the saint had raped her. On May 20, the couple complained to the SP office and subsequently a case was filed under the POCSO Act against Sant Premdas at the Dewar police station.

The police reached the ashram for investigation, however, the saint was missing. During this time, Chhagan Lal Suthar, who also lives at the ashram, was asked to inform the police whenever the saint returned. On Monday morning, when Chhaganlal reached ashram, he saw the body of Premdas hanging from a tree and instantly informed the villagers. Chhaganlal also said that Premdas was not here when he had left the ashram on Sunday night. 

The twist in the case happened when a video left by Premdas came to light in front of the police. The saint has not just accused the couple, but also members from the women’s commission who were allegedly blackmailing him for Rs 15 lakhs. He also claims that this is a big gang racket and while he may not be around, the perpetrators must be brought to justice.

Since he was unable to pay up and did not want to lose his self respect, the saint ended his life. 

Superintendent of Police Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav said that the saint died of suicide by hanging from a tree, however, they will check the authenticity of the video which has gone viral.
