A woman allegedly burnt her husband to death in Chak Saidoke village of Jalalabad subdivision in Fazilka district of Punjab. The motive behind this killing was a domestic dispute between the husband and wife.
Gurwinder Singh, brother of the deceased victim Gursewak Singh recorded his statement at Amir Khas police station, where he confirmed how his sister-in-law Khushmanpreet Kaur, alias Veerpal Kaur, often used to have verbal spats with her husband over petty domestic disputes.
Gurwinder also alleged that Khushmanpreet Kaur put oil on her husband on Friday in a bid to burn him alive. The victim sustained 75 per cent burns and was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening.
On the other hand, Khushmanpreet Kaur denied the charges and said her husband was lighting a lamp in the house when he caught the fire, resulting in burn injuries.

Amir Khas police station SHO said the accused has been booked under Section 302 of the IPC, however, was yet to be arrested. Family members and villagers staged a protest on the Jalalabad-Muktsar road on Monday at 11 am and demanded immediate arrest of the accused woman.
The villagers also alleged the accused was allowed to flee due to the callous attitude of police officials. They said they would express their angst outside the office of the DSP, Jalalabad, if the accused was not arrested. The family members have refused to cremate the body until then.

In another story reported from Ghaziabad last month, three people had been arrested for allegedly killing a railway carpenter. The accused were identified as the victim’s wife Rishika, mother-in-law Rama Devi and her paramour Davendra, alias Kansa.
The victim, identified as Surjeet, was a resident of the Punjab Lines colony. He lived there with his wife and a four-year-old son.
During investigation, police said they admitted that Surjeet was opposing his mother-in-law Rama’s illicit relationship with Kansa. Rishika knew about it but never objected to the relationship. Surjeet often had an argument with them over the issue.
The trio then hatched a plan to murder him and hit him on his head with an iron rod and strangled him to death. They threw the body in a nearby vacant dilapidated house. The body was found in a pool of blood by police, the DSP said.
The irony is both the above incidents won’t be recorded as Domestic violence against husbands.
