A 17-year-old boy from Delhi allegedly murdered his mother for not allowing a divorce from his father. The juvenile has now been taken into police custody.
According to the early investigation, the father of the accused had filed for divorce, however, his mother was unwilling to accept it. The boy became further angry after his friends started mocking him as his father sought the divorce.

As per the media report, a police officer quoted:
The woman separated from her husband around three-years ago and their divorce case is pending in the court as the woman refused to accept it. The victim’s eldest son was staying with his father. In her statement to police, the woman’s daughter said her elder brother thought that their mother was the reason for their divorce. The accused had threatened to murder his mother several times in front of his siblings if she did not agree to accept the divorce.
The boy has been sent to a juvenile detention center after he was produced before a court. The victim woman was living in Delhi along with her other younger son and daughter.
The incident took place on the night of November 30, when the accused visited his mother late in the evening and asked for food. While eating, the accused tried to remove stains from his clothes when his mother saw a knife hidden in his jacket. When she enquired about it, the accused told her that it was for his friend.

Later, the accused asked her to drop him home suggesting it was late and she agreed. The woman left home at around 12.40 am with her son but never returned. The woman’s dead body was recovered from under a pile of bricks close to her residence on December 1. Police later identified the body with the help of local residents and notified her daughter.
The victim’s daughter tried to call her brother but his phone was switched off. With the help of informers, the police nabbed the accused on last Wednesday.
At the time of interrogation, the accused informed police that he was angry that his mother was not giving divorce to his father and his friends were making fun of him over the issue.
The above article does not justify any actions against the law, however, only demonstrates one of the psychological challenges children may be going through at the time of their parent’s impending divorce.
