A woman allegedly staged a ‘robbery’ at her own house in north Delhi with the help of her aide. On Tuesday, both of them have been arrested after they confessed to have hatched the plan of robbing cash and gold jewellery from the house. The incident took place in Shastri Nagar at north Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla on August 30.
The mother of 28-year-old accused woman was working as a maid at 65-year-old Rakesh Kumar’s home. The younger woman then married the man a month ago and was living at his flat in North Delhi with him. As mentioned by police, the accused was the third wife of Mr Kumar. He also has a five-year-old son from his previous marriage.
Kumar was making money through renting out a few properties he had, as his fan manufacturing unit in Delhi was shut down due to losses in business.
Here’s What Happened
The accused woman conspired with her 30-year-old male friend Jitender to rob cash and jewelry from her new married husband’s home. She tied and injured herself so as to mislead her husband and the investigators, as informed by the police.
The husband after seeing his wife in that state immediately called the police. The woman told cops that some unidentified men had entered the house “forcefully”. She also said that she was injured with a hammer, while they robbed all the cash and jewellery and tied her hands and legs before fleeing.
The woman was then admitted to Acharya Bhikshu hospital by the police where she was given treatment. Meanwhile, the investigation was initiated, after a case was registered on the statement of her husband, briefed Anto Alphonse, deputy commissioner of police (north).

The site was inspected in detail by the crime team who was summoned to the spot. The CCTV in all rooms were scanned and the relatives were interrogated as well. The woman was questioned in detail after she returned from the hospital. However, police noticed contradictions in her statements this time. Hence, they recreated the entire sequence of the crime and the woman was interrogated again. She later confessed to staging the robbery with Jitender.
The police team immediately raided his house and recovered the robbed items. The cops have claimed to restore all the stolen cash and jewellery from the house of the woman’s partner in stealing the valuables in the crime. DCP said,
Jitender told the police that he is married and had met the accused woman earlier. Both Jitender and the accused woman hatched a conspiracy to stage the robbery at her husband’s flat. In order to mislead her husband and the police, she injured herself on the forehead and tied her hands and legs while her associate took away the cash jewellery and hid it at his house.
