Police has sent his body for post-mortem.
Dr Rakesh Kumar Singh, a resident of Shamli, and his wife had stopped at a restaurant near Chamarikheda toll plaza on their way to Dehradun. The duo were seen constantly speaking with each other and in one of the CCTV footages, the husband is sometimes seen sitting in the car and sometimes walking downstairs.
The husband shot himself with his licensed weapon, while his wife had been away in the restroom. The incident occurred at 10pm on March 5 when Dr Singh ended life in his car parked in front of the hotel. He died on the spot.
Hearing the sound of gunshots, crowd gathered at the spot. In the meantime, the outpost police, located a short distance from the spot, also reached there.
After interrogating the wife, the police is of the prima facie opinion, that there was a rift between the husband and wife over some issue.
Police have taken the body in possession and sent it for post-mortem and the reason behind the incident is being investigated.
