Debate around sex and sports performance dates to seventh century Greece when athletes would abstain, believing it would increase aggression and energy.
Sex is healthy and also a major physical effort for our bodies. Our pulse rises about 50-80 beats per minute, and our breathing and blood pressure increases too. A similar phenomenon for our body functions appear when we play sport. Thus the question how sex and fitness correlate and what are resulting interdependencies of the correlation has been discussed by scientist for years. Recent studies show that sex and fitness belong together, similar as sex and love.
Does Sex Improve Sports Performance?
Clinical studies historically utilised only small sample sizes and produced inconclusive findings, but most suggest it doesn’t impact sporting performance. As one study from Frontiers in Physiology found,
Sex had no statistically significant effect on athletic performance.
A popular Cricket portal from Australia recently put out a tweet asking readers to comment on anything they could say during both Cricket and Sex. The responses to this post were simply hilarious!

“As you can see it’s fairly flat with a small amount of grass coverage. There’s a little crack there but once the ball comes firing, expect it to open up some more.
Now let me see if I can get the key in.“ pic.twitter.com/E4N6VjW0MT— Josh McPhee (@joshmcphee) December 2, 2019
