In an unfortunate and inhuman incident reported from Bihar, a woman sold her minor daughter as she wanted to elope with her lover. Not just this, the woman also left her son at a private school so that she could be free from her responsibility of both children.

Here’s What Happened
The woman and her husband had relocated to Muzaffarpur sometime ago due to the husband’s work commitments. The couple has a son and a daughter.
In 2021, the woman’s husband passed away, post which she got into a relationship with another man. However, the man refused to accept the children, and thus, the woman sold her 12-year-old daughter to a local businessman (35) for Rs 2.5 lakh, who later got married to her. This exact transaction amount is yet to be confirmed by the police. The son was also left behind at a private school’s hostel.
The matter came to light only when the concerned school raised an alarm over non-payment of son’s hostel fees.

Following the information from the hostel administration, the child’s grandfather filed a zero first information report (FIR) in Jharkhand’s Ranchi, which was later transferred to Muzaffarpur.
The accused mother, her lover (now 2nd husband), the businessman and an accomplice all involved have been nabbed by the police.
Police Statement:
Speaking with the media, ASP Awadhesh Dixit said that the girl’s grandfather had lodged a complaint with the Ratu police station in Ranchi. Dixit said:
Consequently, a “Zero FIR” was filed there, and the case subsequently reached Muzaffarpur’s Sadar Police Station. Swiftly responding to the situation, the police conducted a prompt operation that led to the arrest of four individuals, including the accused mother.
The minor has been safely recovered and is currently in protective custody. A case has been registered against the individuals involved under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The girl was sold off around two years ago and the minor is 14-years of age as on date.
