Assam police officer, popularly known as Lady Singham OR Dabangg Cop Junmoni Rabha, who shot to fame for getting her fiance arrested on fraud charges last month, was herself arrested on Saturday for alleged corruption in league with ex-partner.
Rabha is currently serving as a sub-inspector (SI) at Kaliabor police station in Nagaon district and has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a court in Majuli district, after being questioned for two consecutive days.
Assam Lady Police officer had got her fiance Rana Pogag arrested on fraud charges last month.
Two contractors complained to the police that they had signed financial deals with Rabha’s ex, Pogag, after she introduced him to them when she was posted in Majuli. The contractors alleged they have been cheated.
It was Rabha who then filed and FIR against Pogag alleging that he duped some people by promising them jobs and contracts in ONGC. He was subsequently arrested on charges of cheating and is currently lodged Majuli jail.
However, subsequently allegations were made against Rabha herself, that Pogag collected money on her behalf. A probe was ordered into the allegations, the sources said.
After two consecutive days of interrogation, Rabha has been taken to Majuli district Jail.

Both Accused Were Going To Marry Each Other

Rabha was linked to a controversy in January this year when her phone conversation with Bihpuria MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan was leaked. They were heard arguing over alleged harassment of the people of his constituency by her, reported TOI.
After the leaked audio tape led to a furore, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said an elected representative must be given due respect.
