In an unfortunate incident reported from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, an aspiring athlete ended his life after he was accused of rape. According to the young man, he was falsely framed in the case, for which he had to spend almost two years in jail.
The boy also left a suicide note sharing his side of the facts in detail.
Case:
23-year-old Rahul, resident of Raipur Nagli village in Bhaisi, was an aspiring athlete who had won many medals in India and abroad. He was based in Delhi while he was preparing for Olympics.
During his stay in the capital, he got acquainted with a girl who was only his ‘friend’. However, parents of the girl filed a case against Rahul accusing him of raping their daughter.
Rahul was picked up from his village, arrested and made to spend 19-months in jail. He was released on bail only last month, after which he slipped into depression.
On Monday, he hanged himself from a tree as he was suffering from depression due to this alleged false rape case.
Police recovered a suicide note from the deceased, where he had mentioned,
My life has been ruined after I was sent to jail for 19-months in false rape case. I am in depression. I am no longer eligible for a government job now, so it is better that I end my life.
That girl was only my friend, who had called me to get me a job. However, her parents trapped me in a false rape case.
I have no option but to end my life. My family is not responsible for this and I am taking this step on my own.
Rahul added,
However, please do question parents of the girl how they trapped me for money.

The young athlete also expressed,
Papa forgive me. I wanted to become a big athlete. I had worked very hard for it too. I won several medals in the country and internationally, but they (parents of the girl) ruined my life. I did not rape her.
Even the girl had admitted that nothing had happened to her, yet I was jailed on her parents’ complaint.
I can’t live with the tag of a rapist. Everyone sees me as a criminal, I am not able to face anyone. Sorry…I love my family very much….

Statement By Rahul’s Father
Rahul’s father Mukesh Kumar told reporters that the girl’s father had been blackmailing their son for money. He added that Rahul had already given Rs 10 lakh to the girl’s father. We have also registered a case about this blackmailing in local police station.
City SP Arpit Vijaywargiya said,
We recovered Rahul’s body hanging from a tree on Monday and the same was sent for post mortem. We are in possession of his suicide note and investigating all names that have been mentioned in the same. Action will be taken basis our investigation.
