The Allahabad High Court in a judgement has said that that adult boys and girls can be with anyone of their choice and that no one has the right to interfere in their lives. The order was passed by Justice JJ Munir on the plea of Pooja alias Zoya and Shahvez of Saharpur.
Although the Constitution gives everyone the right to adopt the religion of their choice, conversion is only for marriage. According to the Special Marriage Act, people of opposite faiths can live a married and married life without changing their religion. This law applies to all religions.
Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. The court has allowed anti-religion petitioners to stay anywhere they want.
Case:
Pooja ran away from home and married Shahvez. The family found out and placed them under house arrest, on the basis of which this application was made. The court ordered the girl to appear.
SP instructed Saharanpur to introduce the girl if the father did not make it. The girl who appeared in court said she wanted to stay with her husband. The court ordered him to be released on his own.
UP Chief Minister’s Take On Conversion For Marriage
Citing another recent ruling of the Allahabad High Court which said religious conversion for the sake of marriage is unacceptable, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday warned those waging “love jihad” to mend their ways or be prepared for their last journey — “Ram naam satya hai ki yatra nikalne waali hai”.

Speaking in Malhani (Jaunpur) where a bye-election will be held for an Assembly seat on today (November 3), the Chief Minister said the Allahabad High Court had ruled that religious conversion for marriage is not necessary. He then quoted,
It should not be done, it should not be accepted or recognised. The government too is in the process of deciding tough measures to end love jihad.
Adding further he said,
Chori chhupe, naam chhupa kar ke jo log behen-betiyon ki izzat ke saath khilwad karte hain, unko pehle se meri chetavani: agar woh sudhre nahi toh Ram naam satya hai ki yatra nikalne waali hai.
(This is my warning to those who conceal names and play with the honour of sisters and daughters: mend your ways or be prepared for the last journey).
He then concluded,
We have begun the Mission Shakti programme. It is meant to guarantee security to each person, each sister. If someone does a wrong deed, then Operation Shakti is ready. Operation Shakti’s objective is to ensure the security and honour of sisters and daughters.
