30-year-old lady school teacher has been arrested on charges of sexually exploiting a minor student in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district. The 17-year-old victim died by suicide on March 19.
Prashant Agarwal, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bilaspur, told India Today that the boy left behind a suicide note written in a code. The minor had given the key to the code to some of his friends, with whom’s help the police decoded the suicide note.
Case:
The suicide note written by the 17-year-old boy, detailed how he entered into a relationship with the teacher. He was an academically bright student and the woman taught him chemistry at a renowned school in the city. The teacher later decided to marry another teacher, while the student too left the school and joined another one.
The note read that when he tried to meet her, the teacher refused to do so and he felt hurt. However, he also recorded in his note that she “used” him when it suited her. He decided to end his life, stating that no one would believe his story unless he took this step.
Minor Left Evidence Before Death
Prior to ending his life, the student hacked into the teacher’s phone and social media accounts and retrieved all the information from there. He also sent screenshots of his chats with the teacher to his friends.
The police have recovered the teacher’s cell phone and the same has been sent to cyber experts to extract any more data. SP Prashant Agarwal said,
We also wanted to investigate if it was a case of infatuation or a one-sided affair but the screenshots sent to his friends suggest the teacher and student were involved.
The police have booked the teacher under:
- Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act
- Section 306 (abetment of suicide)
