Another actor Chetan Hansraj told Indiatimes that he was not able to come to terms with the loss and is in a state of shock. He quoted,
Yes, it is a suicide. He was going through separation from his wife and he was also down with sickness. I still can’t believe that Kushal is no more with us. I spoke to him a couple of days ago and he discussed with me that he was disturbed. I tried telling him that things happen in life and he should just fight back. But I never imagined that he will take such a step. It is heartbreaking.
Chetan and Kushal have known each other since last 20 years and the former says,
I will always remember him as a fighter. He was such a positive, fun loving guy. He always laughed and had a smiling face. He was a fighter and always inspired people around him to be fit. We have known each other for the last 20 years and we have grown up together. He was more like a brother to me. The loss is irreparable.

Separation in marriage can be extremely daunting especially for Men, since they do not get child custody and are often made to snap ties with their own children. Since many men are unable to emote themselves or fight back, they choose to take extreme steps such as suicide. Of course, in this case we cannot hold his wife directly responsbile, but it is about the circumstances Men need to deal with.
During such times, the male gender needs to speak out and engage with family and friends. Divorce and separation are not the end of life. #RIPKushalPunjabi, sadly your name too gets added to the list of Husband Suicides.
We wish his family all the strength to cope up with this huge loss.

This article is an absolutely irresponsible piece of reporting. You are indirectly accusing his wife of abetting his suicide. Kushal was a fighter, he wasn’t a quitter. You must understand the circumstances under which a person contemplates committing suicide, let alone successfully taking their own life are best known only to him/her. What do you mean by “a list of husband suicides?” Do you really maintain a list of men who have committed suicide by relation? He is also a son, a brother, a friend and most importantly, a father. Will you add his name to all these lists too? Having said that, before everything else, he is a human being. Grappling with his own hardships and unable to shield himself from his own thoughts. It’s not limited only to men, every single person putting up such fights needs to come out and talk, share and unburden themselves.

Men in fact are more emotionally vulnerable because men are often not allowed by society to show their weaker and vulnerable side and hence men’s depression is more serious. Many times women just take away kids and it leaves black home in man’s life make time succumbing to their depression. I hope all men and women do not become enemies during divorce and try to give understanding and separate gracefully. He didn’t leave anything to his wife also tells a lot about the treatment he might have suffered at the hands of his wife.
