Misuse of rape laws is the worst form of disrespecting genuine rape victims. However, several such cases are filed by the parents of the girl themselves, many a times to teach the daughter’s boyfriend a lesson, settle a score with the boy or just to merely get rid of him.
One such incident has been reported from Rohtak, Haryana. A minor female student has made it clear in front of the court that she was not kidnapped and raped. She also confessed that she had established the relationship with her boyfriend on her own terms and everything that happened between the two was mutual.
The girl has also informed court that she would like to marry the same boy after she attains majority.
In 2018, the father of a Class 10 girl student had lodged a case of kidnapping and raping at the Kalanaur police station. The man is a labourer and has three daughters. One of his daughter was living with her grandmother where she fell in love with a young boy from the neighbourhood. When she went missing, the father registered a complaint against the boy alleging kidnap and rape of his daughter.

The boy was arrested and the girl too had given a statement in favour of her father’s allegations. However, on Friday, the alleged victim changed her statement in front of the District and Sessions Court. She confessed that she was never kidnapped and had eloped with the boy voluntarily. She also wants to marry this same boy after turning 18.
After hearing this statement, the court acquitted the boy. Unfortunately, there is no punishment whatsoever for the father or the girl who registered a false rape case or gave a misleading statement respectively.
Most men in such cases too, breathe a sigh of relief when they get acquitted, but only a few really fight back for their lost respect and dignity in society.
