All men are not perpetrators of a crime and all women are not victims. A case from Pune has been reported where an elderly woman was beaten up by two girls at a de-addiction centre, as she stopped them from kissing.
Here’s What Happened
A 64-year-old lady caretaker was beaten and her teeth were broken because she objected and stopped two girls from kissing each other. The incident took place at a de-addiction center in Pune.
The caretaker has lodged a complaint with Sinhagad road police station after returning to Pune on Saturday. She was a caretaker at the Kripa Foundation’s de-addiction centre.
Police Statement
According to police, the incident took place four months ago. The elderly woman had gone to Mumbai for her dental treatment after being beaten.
After returning to Pune, she lodged a complaint against the accused on Saturday. The two young women were kissing each other at the de-addiction centre on February 19 at around 5 pm.
The caretaker had stopped them from such PDA, and thus the enraged young women, with the help of their other two accomplices, pinned down the caretaker. The accused also broke victim’s teeth during the incident. Police are investigating the case.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under sections 323, 324, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police sub-inspector Pratibha Tandle of Sinhagad Road said they were investigating the case.
MDO Take:
- This is not a debate about sexual orientation of individuals
- This is whether any indvidual should be permitted to indulge in public display of affection (PDA), completely overlooking the discomfort and embarrassment for people around you?
- This incident will hardly be reported by feminist digital portals, since the accused is not a man
- People who stand up for rights of women, must also stand up against crimes by women
