UP Police has solved a rape and murder case of a 22-year-old Dalit girl, whose body was found in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh on January 17. The incident took place in mustard fields of Bibipur, Zaidpur, and was initially reported as rape death.
Case:
The deceased girl’s body was recovered with injuries on her private parts. The police instantly formed five teams and ordered investigation to crack the case.
During the questioning of the family, the cops were informed that their daughter had gone for defecation in the farm at 9pm on the night of her death, however, did not return. Her body was found lying naked in a mustard field in the village.
Several Contradictions In Family’s Statement
During the investigation, police noticed that there were many contradictions in the statements given by the family as against evidences recovered from the crime scene. The witnesses’ statements was not matching with the story they initially narrated.
According to reports, police found slippers near the dead body, which was of size 4, however, the victim’s foot size was 7. A villager, in his statement informed police, that the victim’s mother had come to his farm between 7:30pm and 8:30pm that night and informed him that the girl was missing. However, in her statement, the mother said that the girl had gone to the fields at 9pm.

Some labourers working near the fields had also seen the mother going to the fields that night, from where the slippers of the deceased were finally found by police. Incidentally, the sandals found by the police, were of the same size as the mother.
Body Had Injuries But No Rape
The post mortem examination of the body found no evidence of rape or sexual violence. This made the police suspicious of the statements given by the victim’s family.
The members were once again questioned by the cops, which is when they confessed to having murdered their own daughter.
Murder
The mother of the victim took her to the farm late that night. The girl’s brother was already present in the field as per plan, while the father was keeping an eye on the adjoining road. The mother then held the feet of the girl while the brother strangulated her.
Not just this – in order to make the event look like rape death – the brother then hit the private parts of his sister with a stick. The family disposed off victim’s clothes and also tied her neck with a scarf.
Motive
Shockingly, the family wanted to get rid of their mentally disabled girl and thus they planned her murder. Another primary motive behind killing their own child, was the compensation amount families of victims had received in previous rape and murder cases of Dalit girls.
Family Tried Implicating Others In False Rape Death Case
The police also informed media that during the investigation, the family tried to blame the murder charges on those people with whom the family had quarrelled in the past. They tried to shift the needle of suspicion on several people who were thoroughly questioned by the police.

Around 70 people, including nearby farm owners, few poultry farmers, labourers and many others were interrogated by the police.
The police have now arrested both parents and the brother on charges of murder of the girl. Legal action has been initiated against all of them.
