A six year long matrimonial dispute came to a tragic end with the husband deciding to give up his life this month. The incident has been reported by Rajasthan.
Case:
On February 2, a 36-year-old man named Azad Singh, son of Hari Singh, resident of Dhani Deema Tan Haradiya of Khetri, died by suicide by jumping into a well. The cops have recovered a suicide note after the incident, wherein, the deceased has explained the hardships his wife gave him, by cheating him to extorting money and also marrying someone else.
Azad got married to Krishna, daughter of Deepchand, a resident of Silpur on February 28, 2015. In the suicide note, Singh accused his father-in-law for pushing him to end his life. He also stated that in-laws so far extorted Rs 16 lakh from him in the name of marriage. However, they later married off their daughter to somewhere else.
The in-laws had even threatened to file a case against the now deceased husband. The suicide note also includes name of a policeman posted at the DSP office in Khetri, accusing him of helping the accused to harass him. Father Hari Singh has filed a case against the in-laws in this matter.
Background:
Everything was going normal between the couple for a few days after getting married. However, some months later, the wife started getting involved in fights with her husband. After some days, Krishna left Azad’s house and went to Loharwada in Sikar district to her uncle’s residence.
However, in April that year, she climbed on top of a water tank and alleged that she was forcibly married to a person twice her age, who had thrashed her. The matter was then resolved with the intervention of cops. The dispute between the two continued even after this.
Suicide
Azad Singh alleged in his suicide note that Deepchand, Koyli Devi, Mishri Devi, Ganesharam, Daulatram and Rameshwar, extorted Rs 10 lakh and later another Rs 3 lakh right from engagement to marriage. However, immediately after marriage, Krishna was held back by her family to stay at her maternal house for the past four years.
On November 25 last year, wife’s family also got her fraudulently married to another man without any legal divorce from Azad. The in-laws once again started threatening the husband with false cases against him, after which he died by suicide.
Based on the complaint filed by Hari Singh, who has retired from the Army, the cops have registered a case against all the accused. The police are also searching for Ashok Kumar, the police constable mentioned in the suicide note, who is said to be posted at Khetdi DSP office.
