Domestic abuse and violence on Men has been happening over several years, however, focus of media always remains on the sufferings of women. Crime Has No Gender and atrocities on either spouse must be recorded and published by NCRB, which is currently not happening for husbands.
#HusbandMurder has become extremely rampant today, especially in cases where wives are wanting to live with another men, or when the husbands catch their spouses in adultery. While MDO tries to cover as many such husband murder cases according to our bandwidth, we receive at least 2-3 articles daily with regards to murder of husbands by their wives and their paramours.
Case:
A 35-year-old woman from Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, her boyfriend and two others have been arrested here for the murder of her husband who worked as an aggregate cab driver. Last month, the police found Shruti Ganji had pawned her mangalsutra and other bits of jewellery to raise Rs 1 lakh as advance payment for the contract killing. She planned to raise the remaining Rs 3 lakh by liquidating fixed deposits.
Accused wife Shruti wanted a divorce from her 43-year-old husband Prabhakar Ganji to live with her 32-year-old lover Hitesh Vala. According to the accused woman, her husband was refusing divorce despite him too being involved with another woman.
As per her statement to police, Shruti discussed the matter with her friend Priya Nikam, 32, who put her in touch with contract killer Santosh Reddy, 26.
Police Investigation
Vala, Nikam and Reddy have been arrested, and cops are looking for Reddy’s accomplices — Kashinath Dhotre, 27, and 28-year-old Rohit Bachute, reported TOI.
Reddy and the two others had booked Ganji’s Ola taxi on the night of July 31 on the pretext of going to Airoli from Bhiwandi. Ashok Honmane, senior police inspector of Bhiwandi crime unit.
When the cab reached Mankoli naka, they asked Ganji to stop so that they could buy Chinese food from a stall. When Ganji stopped the car, the accused strangled him with a nylon rope and fled.
Honmane added that the killers had taken care not to leave any fingerprints behind.
After the murder, the police found Shruti giving contradictory answers. Under sustained interrogation and surveillance, she spilled the beans.
