Mumbai Police have cracked the case of #HusbandMurder where a 28-year-old woman allegedly killed her spouse with the help of her lover and buried his body inside her house in the western suburb of Dahisar in the city.
While the woman identified as Rasheeda Sheikh was arrested couple of days ago, her paramour Amit Mishra had been on the run and has been now nabbed by the officials.
Case:
The incident took place in Rawal Pada locality of Dahisar (east) around a fortnight ago, when the accused allegedly slit the victim husband Raees Sheikh’s throat with a sharp weapon in front of his minor daughter. The wife and her lover then buried the victim’s body in the woman’s room and went on to live their daily lives as usual.
The deceased used to work as a salesman in a clothing store. On May 25, the victim’s neighbour registered a missing person’s complaint after he had not seen him for over a week. Suspicion grew deeper after the victim’s brother Anees reached the latter’s home and his niece broke down and told him about the murder.
Police Investigation:
According to the police, on May 25, Shahida Sheikh too reached the Dahisar police station and filed a missing complaint. As reported by India Today, she told police that her husband hadn’t returned home after he left on May 21. She added that she had been unable to contact him since the time he left home.
Based on this, the police registered a missing complaint and started investigating the matter. Anees informed the police that his sister-in-law was changing her statements repeatedly. He also told the police that he suspected she was hiding something.
On June 1, the police reached Raees’ home. While inspecting the house, the police noticed that floor tiles of the kitchen were irregularly placed and many tiles were missing. When grilled about her husband’s disappearance, Shahida reportedly revealed that she had murdered him with the help of her paramour Amit Mishra and buried his body in the kitchen.
11-days after his death, police recovered Raees Sheikh’s body on Wednesday. The police had to dig for nearly 12 hours to recover the body buried three feet under the kitchen.
Daughter Becomes Witness
When the police asked the couple’s six-year-old daughter, she revealed everything that she had seen. The girl added that her mother had threatened her that if she told anyone about it, else she too would be buried similarly.
According to the police, Shahida revealed that she had an extramarital affair with Amit Mishra, who happened to be their neighbour. Her husband Raees came to know about it and was against the relationship. He had asked his wife to stop such illicit relations immediately.
However, Shahida, along with Amit Mishra, decided to murder Raees and on May 22, Shahida and Amit strangulated Raees in front of her six-year-old daughter with a wire. Following this, the accused also cut his body into three parts, kept them in the bathroom for a while and later buried them in the kitchen.
The police have arrested Both Shahida Sheikh and her paramour Aniket alias Amit Mishra on murder charges.
