A woman from Chennai, Tamil Nadu has been arrested for the murder of her son. The three-year-old child had died in January this year and the woman confessed to her crime after nearly 11-months.
According to local police, the mother killed her son as he had an intellectual disability and she found it difficult to take care of him.
Case:
As per a report by The News Minute, 33-year-old Nadiya, the mother, and her 34-year-old husband Sakthivel, lived in Korukkupet with their child named Ishanth.
On January 25, she had rushed the boy to the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital. She had informed doctors there that he had tripped and fallen down while he was playing and sustained head injuries. The child died three days later, but doctors were not suspicious over the death. It was the autopsy report that led to the police suspecting foul play.
A postmortem of the child’s body revealed that he could not have tripped and gotten injured. Due to a nervous disorder, he had reportedly not even begun walking yet. The case was altered to include charges of murder and Nadiya was arrested on Wednesday.

Supreme Court Acquits Woman For Killing New Born As “It Is Unnatural For Mother To Kill Her Own Baby”
The idea for Men’s Day Out to put out these stories is not to demean motherhood or show women in poor light. However, this is also a side to some women which must be told. Every gender may have shades of grey, however, when it comes to laws, legal system acts with extreme leniency with the female gender, however, a man gets harsher sentence for a similar crime.
One must also note that these incidents do not make all women cruel or all mothers monsters. Similarly, crimes committed by certain men should not become the reason to penalise all males with Gender Biased Laws.
Legal system should be amended and a criminal should be sentenced based on his/her crime and not the gender.
