Last week, a woman from Bihar allegedly killed her husband in Banwadi village, Ramaniapokhar of Sarogada Panchayat of Pothia police station area. The local police have arrested the accused wife in connection with the husband’s murder.
The deceased has been identified as Ahsan, whose wife, Aamna Khatoon murdered him by strangulation due to her illicit relationship. The mobile number of the accused’s paramour has been recovered by the investigation team. The body has been sent for post-mortem and police are investigating the case.
According to the police, Aamna tried to kill Ahsan on Saturday, however, when her sister-in-law, Salia Khatoon, heard her brother’s voice, she immediately went to check on him. The accused had already locked the door from inside by then.
Salia then rushed to call people from her neighbourhood including her family members. They reached the spot and broke open the door. As soon as they entered the room, to their shock, the accused woman was sitting on her husband’s back and was strangling and attempting to murder him. The family members and others immediately locked her inside a room and Ahsan was urgently admitted to Pothia PHC for treatment. He was already in critical condition.
The victim was referred to visit a bigger medical centre, after which he got admitted to Islampur hospital and then Siliguri Medical College. However, Ahsan succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Thereafter, the family returned to their hometown with the deceased’s body. On the basis of the written complaint filed by the sister-in-law and sole witness in the case, police registered a case against Aamna Khatoon and her alleged lover in Pothia police station. The officials have started their investigation in the case.
The wife has been arrested.

In another story, Gurudev Singh from Punjab was found dead on the stairs of the second floor of his house on the morning of July 14. As informed by his wife, everybody, including his family and neighbours thought he died due to overuse of drugs.
However, during his last rites, the family noticed some marks on the victim’s neck following which the police were informed and an investigation commenced. The body was sent for an autopsy which suggested that the man had been strangulated. The police interrogated the wife and she admitted to her crime.
