The Uttar Pradesh school teacher, reportedly working simultaneously in 25 schools and earning over Rs 1 crore as salary in 13 months, was arrested in Kasganj on Saturday, police said.
The accused has been identified as Anamika Shukla, a teacher who allegedly worked in 25 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) and collected Rs 1 crore in salaries over a period of 13 months. Speaking to the media, Kasganj basic education officer Anjali Aggarwal said,

Anamika sent her resignation to my office on Saturday afternoon through a friend who was detained by us. Police was immediately called and the teacher who committed fraud was arrested close to the office in a car with the help of staff members.
The police immediately took her to the local police station and her interrogation is underway.
Background
Anamika is a full time science teacher posted at the KGBV in Baghpat district and was found working simultaneously in 25 districts after the basic education department started creating a digital database of teachers.

Anamika Shukla, originally a resident of Kaimganj in Farukhabad is currently doing her B.Ed from the Raghukul Degree College in Gonda. Her other documents are also from the same college.
During interrogation, Anamika said that she was actually Anamika Singh but as questioning proceeded, it turned out that she was Priya from Farrukhabad. Soron station house officer (SHO) Ripudaman Singh said,
During interrogation, the accused initially claimed to be Anamika Singh, daughter of Subhas Singh. However, her documents are in the name of Anamika Shukla, daughter of Subhas Chandra Shukla.
The accused claimed that she paid the hefty amount to one Raj, a Mainpuri-based man for the job and was posted in Faridpur Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) since August 2018. The police are now trying to zero in on the man who got her the job.

Shukla has been booked for cheating and forgery under IPC
- Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property)
- Section 467 (forgery of valuable security, will etc.)
- Section 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating)
UP basic education minister Dr Satish Dwivedi ordered a probe and FIR against Anamika Shukla on Friday after the matter came to light. He also directed officials to carry out personal verification of all teachers posted in 746 KGBVs across the state.
The minister told India Today that if any department official is found helping Anamika Shukla in the fraud, an FIR will be filed. Dr Dwivedi said,

We are making the entire process of attendance and verification of teachers digital for transparency. Tablet is being provided to every school for attendance but the distribution process was halted due to the lockdown. We will soon be completing the process of tablet distribution.
Police said Shukla told them she got the job on paying a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. KGBV teachers are appointed on contract and get Rs 30,000 pay.
