UP Man Dies By Suicide Due To Harassment By Wife, In-Laws Within 5-Days Of Marriage

A young man from Uttar Pradesh died by suicide by consuming poisonous substance due to alleged harassment by his in-laws. The incident has been reported from Chunasa village of Babri area in Muzaffarnagar district.

The young man’s sister has filed an FIR against his wife and other in-laws. The police are investigating the matter.

Case:

Prayas, 23, got married on November 14 with one Komal, daughter of Chandrapal Singh resident of Patla Khanpur police station, Niwari district, Ghaziabad.

Kumar’s sister Seema lodged a complaint against her sister-in-law Komal and her family members alleging harassment by the latter and her brother Nitin just within two days after marriage. According to Seema, Komal called her brother and the two started abusing and threatening Prayas of fixing him.

Later, Komal left for her maternal home with her brother. However, she kept abusing Prayas from her parents’ house as well. Disturbed by this, Prayas called his sisters and informed them everything. Seema in her complaint stated,

Prayas said that his brother-in-law Vipin, Nitin and sister-in-law Mamta and his wife Komal harassed him on the phone. Due to which he consumed poison and later asked us to save him.

Victim’s condition deteriorated, and the family rushed him to the private hospital in Shamli. Local police also recorded his statement, however, Prayas died during treatment. The Babri police sent the body for post-mortem.

Prayas was cremated on Friday evening. He was the only brother to his three sisters. Their parents had already passed away. Babri Police has started investigation by registering a case against wife Komal, sister-in-law Mamta and both brother-in-laws, Nitin and Vipin.
