Twitter Hails Woman Who Sent DM Proposal To Acquaintance Crush｜Reverse Becomes Stalking For Men

Some months ago, we received an email with screen shots of a private chat between a man and his former colleague.

According to the man, both were a part of a common Facebook travel group, and when the woman narrated her experience of travelling on a holiday through states during partial lockdown, the man was curious to learn more details on the same. Subsequently, he sent her a ‘Friend Request’ on the social media platform, so that her messenger could receive his direct messages.

To his shock, the woman threatened to call him out publicly, merely because he sent her a friend request. She also shamed him for alleged “stalking” when she received a friend request from the man.

In another story, a popular women’s rights portal also wrote an entire article in June this year, with the headline

“Dear Men, Sliding Into Our DMs Makes You Creepy, Not Charming”

The article read as follows:

With half-opened eyes, I unlocked my phone to take in my dose of morning memes from my Instagram feed. But guess what? I was instead greeted with the infamous, ‘Hye deer, wil u b frands?’ DM (direct message) from an anonymous guy. It’s not something new and I am yet to meet a girl who doesn’t have a story of unknown men sliding into their DMs. They start the conversation with a ‘hi’ and when they don’t receive a reply, many start using unacceptable language and bombarding you with unsolicited nude pictures. Why do these men have this sense of entitlement? What makes them send ‘Hi Dear’ messages so brazenly?

While Men’s Day Out also does not encourage stalking or sending messages unnecessarily to unknown people, we came across a viral tweet this morning where women have been sharing their experiences of privately messaging Men to express their feelings!

And then we spotted one tweet, which somehow went in spam under this tweet. It read:

I only want to know if it was a boy confessing hi love to a girl how many on twitter would be running crazy to report him or would have called him a creep

To everyone reading this and specially all ladies – we are totally non-judgemental about you expressing your feelings to known/unknown crush or an acquaintance. We truly believe there should be enough space in society, for love, life and laughter. However, the problem arises when Men reach out to their ‘crush’ in a similar manner and instead of politely denying or ignoring the DM, women suddenly wear the hat of an extremist feminist. They sometime turn these DMs into a public drama by posting the name of and screen shot of the man who would have written to the woman respectfully.

Thus, moral of the story before we end 2020 is let Equality must be truly Equal! As independent confident women, you have full right to approach a man and also absolute freedom to express your replies with a NO!

However, kindly refrain from dragging men into unnecessary litigations or giving threats, because you want to supposedly be termed as a ‘social media hero’ (sorry for that sexist masculine label here).
